Tom Watson

Tom joined the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Parade Committee 42 years ago and became part of the Wagon Doctors, a group of men who are essential for the upkeep and maintenance of the world-class carriage collection owned by CFD and the CFD Old West Museum. As Tom’s interest and passion for the carriage collection has grown, he continues to recruit talented people to work on the carriages that are used in the parades. Tom gathers tools and materials for the projects, pulls the horse-drawn vehicles into the correct lineup for four annual parades, and helps move carriages between the CFD Old West Museum, Barn 10, and in some cases, off-site storage facilities. Between 1982 and 1995, Tom also served on the Ticket Committee. He continued his membership on the Parade Committee during that time, working by day on the carriages to keep the parades running smoothly and at night with security for the night shows. He is an original member of the Carriage Coordinating Committee. Tom became a member of the HEELS in 1993. Tom and his wife, Debbie, were involved in starting the Chuckwagon Cookoff in the 1990s. Originally, the cookoff started with two wagons. Now, there is a waiting list for entrants. Tom exemplifies the CFD volunteer spirit working behind the scenes in order to make Cheyenne Frontier Days™ a success.
