Jim Lynch
Jim Lynch is from Boston, MA but has been living in Cheyenne since 1981. Jim joined the Public Relations Committee in 1987 as a photographer working under Randy Wagner. Jim became the Public Relations Assistant in 1995 and was accepted into the HEELS in 2003. Jim has positively promoted Cheyenne Frontier Days to visitors from around the world. He doesn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation or offer assistance to anyone who may look lost or confused. Jim goes the extra mile for anyone needing help. In 2010, Tom Korthals mentioned that he had been thinking about creating Public Relations Committee logo and asked if Jim would want to assist in its design. They distributed the original 1,000 pins to the Public Relations Committee on Badge Night. They have also designed 3 different Challenge Coins that were also distributed throughout the General Committee and the PR Committee. In 2014, Tom mentioned that several committees on the park had their own Flag Pole in front of their building and thought the PR Committee should have the same so Tom and Jim collected donations to purchase the flag pole and solar powered light that is in front of the building today. In the early 2000s the PR Committee decided that all members should bring a new item of clothing for children in grades K through 6 so that the PR Committee could give back to the residents of Laramie County. Jim took over this program about 10 years ago collecting more than $60,000 worth of clothing donated to the elementary schools in Laramie County School Districts 1 & 2. Jim took this idea and formed a “Coats for Kids” Program. He works with the school counselors to distribute the coats and has provided over 13,000 items of winter outerwear throughout the Laramie County School districts.
