Red Fenwick
A noted journalist, Red Fenwick had a soft spot for Cheyenne Frontier Days™. As feature writer for the Denver Post and in his Empire Magazine column “Riding the Range”, he annually extolled the happenings of CFD. He wrote “It was Christmas, New Year’s, the Fourth of July and Halloween all rolled into one big package.” Born in Lusk, Wyoming in 1905, he ran away from home in 1923 and hitched a ride to Cheyenne Frontier Days™ where he fell in love with the event. Through the years he wrote many feature stories about the show, the parades, individual committeemen and personalities like Dazee Bristol. Red was honored in 1978 as an ‘Honorary HEEL.’
