Johnny Cash

“Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.” While these four words have only been spoken twice at Cheyenne Frontier Days™, in 1977 and 1980, this country music legend left his mark on Cheyenne and the rodeo. The morning of July 25, 1977 a USAF Thunderbird jet crashed onto the stock pens of Frontier Park, narrowly missing campers on the grounds. The rodeo went on that day, as did the night show. Johnny Cash gave a fitting tribute to the Thunderbird pilot who lost his life in that tragic accident.
