Wilbur Plaugher
Wilbur Plaugher signed on with Cheyenne Frontier Days™ in 1957. Known as an excellent animal trainer and an outstanding cowboy Plaugher often entered events at Cheyenne in addition to his rodeo clowning and bullfighting duties. In 1958 he turned in a time of 10.5 in bulldogging. In 1962 he entered the steer wrestling competition finishing with a time of 7.9. The last event that he entered at Cheyenne Frontier Days™ was in 1970 getting a good score in the bull riding competition. Wilbur Plaugher brought a clean family entertainment act to the rodeo and continued his style of rodeo clowning until 1983. A deeply religious man he fostered the Cowboy Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes the first service of which was held in the Cheyenne arena.
