Calvin Jumping Bull
Great-grandson of the renowned Hunkpapa leader, Sitting Bull, Calvin Jumping Bull has performed and attended Cheyenne Frontier Days™ for over 41 years. He performed at Cheyenne Frontier Days™ as a Lakota Men’s Omaha Dancer from 1963 to 1979 under the tutelage of Rose Ecoffey (Princess Blue Water) and Norman Knox. As head of the Lakota dance troupe from 1969 to 1979, Calvin Jumping Bull revamped the troupe, improved the various dance categories and worked to increase the participants’ salaries, living conditions, public relations, presentations and image. He was given the CFD Silver Appreciation Badge in 1965 and was appointed a 100th Anniversary CFD Parade Marshal.
