Mel Potter
Mel Potter entered Cheyenne Frontier Days™ in calf roping in the early 1960s and continued to compete through 1977, when he first entered the senior steer roping contest. Placing several times over his years of competition at CFD™, it wasn’t until 1995 that he won the Championship Buckle in the Senior Steer Roping competition. His daughter, Sherry Potter Cervi won the Barrel Racing Championship that same year. Mel Potter is one of the founders of the Senior Steer Roping Association, which has contributed more than $25,000 to the CFD™ Scholarship Foundation. His long association with Cheyenne Frontier Days™ has been a wonderful experience for him.
