Jim Tescher
Jim Tescher first got into rodeo at the age of sixteen. One of the first great roughstock riders to come from North Dakota, he was a top contender for a championship every time he entered a rodeo. He won the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Saddle Bronc Riding Championship in 1957 and 1965. Entering the bulldogging events, the saddle bronc and bareback events, he also captured the All Around Championship in 1957 and 1966. He was always happy to help police the arena in front of the chutes and would help in any way to contribute to the success of Cheyenne Frontier Days™. Jim was a highly respected member of professional rodeo and a great role model for other North Dakota cowboys. At his funeral in 2003, his horse Bonner was led graveside by Brad Gjermundson carrying the saddle Tescher had won at Cheyenne Frontier Days™ in 1966.
