Clark McEntire

Clark McEntire first entered Cheyenne Frontier Days™ in 1944 at the age of 16. He took 3rd in the 1st go-round in steer roping. Competing every year until 1973, Clark won the biggest titles in rodeo, including Cheyenne Frontier Days™. He won the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Steer Roping Championship in 1954 on a horse from Texas and again in 1961 on a horse named “Redwood.” His favorite day at Cheyenne, in 1950, was when he placed 2nd in both the calf roping and the steer roping on the same day, and on the same Hancock bred horse named “Joe.” A longtime steer roper, Clark McEntire owns a ranch with his wife Jackie. His children continue to be active in the western way of life through ranching, rodeo and music.
