Lois Wade
Lois H. Wade devoted over 40 years of service as a volunteer to Cheyenne Frontier Days™. She was the rodeo secretary for all of those years, serving under 15 contestants chairmen, executive directors and other committee chairmen. Her responsibilities included taking all entries, assigning bucking stock and processing fees. In addition to the clerical work, she was also the backup timer for the bucking events at the rodeo and she trained her own replacement. During these years, she and her husband Bob opened their home to many rodeo cowboys, offering a place to sleep and a hot meal. Many, including Shawn Davis, Walt Linderman and Larry Mahan made the Wade residence their home away from home. In her last year of service, 1985, Lois was honored during the performance of the rodeo by the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Committee for her many years of loyal, hard work. She was extremely proud of the honor. She was also the first female member of the Contestants Committee, dating back to 1940.
