John D. "Jack" Mabee
Jack Mabee’s involvement with Cheyenne Frontier Days™ began in 1946 as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, who at that time, ran CFD as a part of its operations. He was appointed to be a part of the Day Show Committee as Tickets Chairman in 1954 until 1956. He was Chairman of the Day Show Committee from 1956 and was responsible for bringing “The Arthur Godfrey and Friends” tv show to Cheyenne Frontier Days™ for the entire week (the first live outdoor remote television broadcast in history). When the Day Show Committee and Night Show Committee merged permanently in 1957 to become the General Committee, Jack became the first General Chairman as we know it today. He continued as Chairman through the 1958 show. He became a HEEL in 1958 and was part of the Frontier Planning Committee from 1959 through 1976. Jack remained active in CFD as a timer and judge until his death in May 1975.
