Dan Rees
Elected to the HEELS organization in 1939, Dan Rees volunteered for Cheyenne Frontier Days™ all his life. He began his volunteer duties in 1929 by assisting D.E. “Woody” Woodson, the Rodeo Secretary. He then assumed this responsibility himself in 1941. Following his tenure as a member of the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Committee as the first Contestants Chairman from 1951 through 1954, Dan Rees read the shortened version of “The Cowboy’s Prayer” from 1958 through 1983. He was a member of the Frontier Days Planning Board and President of the HEELS organization. Because of his commitment to Cheyenne Frontier Days™, he was one of the few non-rodeo contestants to receive a Gold Card Membership in the PRCA, earning him the title, “The Cowboy’s Cowboy.”
