C. Bud Racicky
Bud Racicky became a Cheyenne Frontier Days Volunteer on the Indian Committee in 1963. After becoming a HEEL in 1973, he became the Chairman of the Indian committee in 1975. Bud served as the Publicity Committee Chairman in 1976 and 1977 and was one of six chairmen who represented Cheyenne Frontier Days at the United States Bicentennial in Philadelphia in 1976. During his time as Publicity Chairman, Bud started a newsletter which later became the Hooey to keep the volunteers informed of all Committee happenings on the park. The Hooey is still published and used by Cheyenne Frontier Days Volunteers today. In addition to his time volunteering for Cheyenne Frontier Days, Bud has worked on many CFD Old West Museum Committees over the years. These include the Museum’s Endowment Fund in which he solicited donations from local businesses for fundraisers for the Museum. Bud was chairman of the first two New Year’s Eve Fundraisers at the Museum, even donating a horse to one of auctions. Currently, Bud is one of the parade announcers on the corner of Carey and 16th Avenue and has been for the last 15 years. He involved his daughter Tave and stepson Tad in volunteering at young ages. Tad began selling programs in the stands at the age of 5 and is now an assistant on the Public Relations Committee. Tave also continues to volunteer. Cheyenne Frontier Days is so thankful for volunteers such as Bud, for dedicating so much time and energy on several different committees to make sure we have the best show each year.
