The United States Air Force Thunderbirds
Officially activated on June 1, 1953 as the 360th Air Demonstration Team at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, the team relocated to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada in 1956. They made their inaugural performance at the 57th Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days™ with amazing and never before seen aerial maneuvers. They have performed for the crowds at “Daddy of ‘em All.” ® every year since, celebrating 50 years at the 2003 show. Cheyenne is the only venue where the United States Air Force Thunderbirds commit to performing every year, and they enjoy it so much that they spend some time every year giving back to the Cheyenne community. They are known for flipping cakes at the Pancake Breakfasts, providing autographs for fans and saddling up for the Grand Entry at the rodeo.
