The Union Pacific Railroad
In 1897 Frederick Angier who worked as a Traveling Passenger Agent for the Union Pacific came to Cheyenne with an idea. If the city of Cheyenne would agree to put on a festival Angier would bring up an excursion train from Denver. The city of Cheyenne agreed. One month later Frontier Day was born and over 1650 people rode the train that day from Denver. The Union Pacific Railroad has continued to be a part of the celebration. Beginning in 1897 the Union Pacific sponsored an excursion train to Cheyenne Frontier Days™. Sponsoring trophy saddles and events the Union Pacific has continued to be an active part of Cheyenne Frontier Days™.
