Verne Elliott

Competing in Cheyenne from 1907 to 1911 Verne Elliott was a natural showman performing in 1910 for Teddy Roosevelt on a buffalo belonging to C.B. Irwin. Hurt in competition and ending his competitive career at Cheyenne in 1911 Verne Elliott went on to become one of the premier stock contractors in rodeo. He provided stock for Cheyenne Frontier Days™ from 1917 to 1961 including the famous Midnight and Five Minutes to Midnight. He and his partner Ed McCarty developed a crossbred breed of Brahma bull. Introducing it to rodeo it essentially created bullriding as we know it. He and his partners provided most of the stock for major rodeos including Denver Cheyenne Pendelton Ft. Worth Tulsa Chicago and New York.
