Harry Knight
Beginning his rodeo career in Quebec in 1925, Harry Night competed in multiple events with his favorite being saddle bronc riding. His first connection with Cheyenne Frontier Days™ was in 1928 when he won the Amateur Saddle Bronc title. In 1940, he gave up that phase of rodeo to pursue his interest in stock contracting. Gene Autry and Harry joined forces in 1956 and bought the Clemens Brothers and the Leo Cramer Rodeo Companies in order to expand their business, the Harry Knight Rodeo Company. Harry’s company had many big rodeo contracts throughout the United States, including Cheyenne Frontier Days™. He supplied bucking horses and stock to Frontier Days from 1959 to 1971. During his 15 plus years of providing big, outstanding, and challenging livestock in Cheyenne, Harry had three PRCA Saddle Bronc Horses of the Year. Also known as “The Silver Fox,” Harry spent 45 years of his life participating in and promoting professional rodeos such as CFD. After selling their company in the early 1970’s, Harry and his wife, Emily, continued to travel to Cheyenne Frontier Days™ each year until failing health prevented their attendance.
