David Johansen
Dave Johansen started his career with Cheyenne Frontier Days in June of 1985 as the CFD Business Manager where he was responsible for all the day to day accounting functions. Dave remained in that position until Fall of 1987 when he was promoted to Executive Secretary working for and with the Cheyenne Frontier Days General Committee. This position was updated to Executive Director to better fit the role Johansen played with the organization. For 22 years as Executive Director, Dave was the principal face and contact for CFD, where he worked primarily to improve communication across Park and throughout our community. Throughout his career, Dave developed numerous influential contacts in rodeo, state and county fairs, and the tourism industry. He represented Cheyenne Frontier Days in local and national tourism and travel entertainment organizations. Dave also developed and managed an efficient and productive office staff through a personnel policy. He directed and empowered personnel on policies established by Board of Directors and General Committee, as well as participated in the development and implementation of corporate mission and goals. He analyzed risk and liability issues as they might pertain to CFD ensuring that all risks were addressed. He encouraged risk audits to identify areas that could be improved and risk reduced or eliminated. Dave contributed to and coordinated the transition from CFD’s logoed products program to a new limited liability company. The company, Frontier Marketing, LLC, is still in use today. With this addition, he prepared and monitored budgets for Cheyenne Frontier Days and Frontier Marketing, LLC. He was the Administrator for Cheyenne Frontier Days, Inc., Frontier Marketing, LLC, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Building Authority and the City of Cheyenne, Laramie County, Cheyenne Frontier Days Joint Powers Board.
