Roy Cooper
Afflicted with asthma as a child, Roy Cooper overcame his handicap and became a professional roper. Competing at Cheyenne Frontier Days™ from 1976 to 2003, Roy Cooper took home the All Around Champion buckle in 1989 and 1993, the Steer Roping Champion buckle in 1988 and the Calf Roping Champion buckle in 1978. He is the first man in 25 years to win three world titles in a single season and was nicknamed the “Super Looper” after claiming five consecutive world tie-down roping titles. In 2000, he became the first person in PRCA history to reach 2 million dollars in career earnings.
